Anime Film Reviews

I'm not the biggest fan for anime (like I'm not obsessesed) but once in a while I like to go onto Crunchyroll and find a cute anime to watch (I like Shugo Chara and The pet girl of Sakurasou).
Well over the holidays I started watching films as well so I thought I'd share with you some of my thoughts.

My neighbour Totoro:
I had been looking forward to watching this film for so long, so when I finally got the time to watch it I was jumping in my seat. All I knew was that it contained cats. Well it certainly did but it starts when two young girls move with their father into a new house, straight away there are rumours of the house being haunted, and cute characters start jumping out of places. Their mother is sick in hospital with an unknown illness, so the children await her return throughout. Then there is Totoro and his cat bus! Mei the younger of the two children starts chasing miniature versions of Totoro until she finds the legend himself. I shan't give anything else away you'll just have to watch it as I found it a thrilling film, perfect for a relaxing day as Sunday.
I give this film: ★ ★ ★ ★

Kiki's delivery service:
This is a really sweet film about a witch in training. But she doesn't go to school, instead she's got to go away from home and find her calling. Well she doesn't plan it very well as she fly's into a village and realises she has nowhere to stay, luckily for her a nice women from the bakery says she has a room free. Kiki then realises she can repay her for her kindness by providing a delivery service. Well I'll stop there but it really shows a story of friendship and creativity. I mean how many of us wish we could leave home and act all grown up at the age of 13? Well I know I sure did, so it really does rekindle a sense of innocence.
I give this film: ★ ★ ★

Spirited Away:
Now this film is weird. It involves a young girl called Chihiro who is moving house with her parents. Her father is a bit like me as he's not afraid to take an adventure when he drives them down a derelict road to try to find the house. Well this was actually a slight fault of his as it's how the story begins. They wander down around an area that used to be used for carnivals/fun fairs when they come across piles and piles of food. Deciding that they'll pay the man when he comes back they help themselves greedily to the food (Apart from Chihiro). Well lets just say it was a big mistake as you shouldn't take whats not your right? This film features people who have been turned into animals. I quite frankly didn't like the film at all I found it all very bizarre and a little grotesque as the animals were beaten and somewhat scary looking. The only character I liked was Chihiro whom I felt sorry for as I wanted things to turn out alright. Now even though I don't recommend this film, it is a highly popular/rated film in the world of anime so I guess it's for you to make your mind up.
I give this film★

Where have I been?

Well the answer to that question is sprawled out on my bed with my head in a revision guide. Yes I started several posts this month but never found the time to finish them as I'v got 7 exams this month. They are all extremely important so I'v been working my but off. Evidence:
My daily routine: Yes there's a cheeky bag of crisps there!

But I haven't spoke to you guys since the new year right? Well I made 3 resolutions....
1.Study more
2.Eat healthy
3.Have new experiences
So I have been trying to eat healthier but when your stressed out and have chocolate in your bedroom it's kinda hard to stick to. But I found this really good post on Tumblr called the Squat challenge, it's awesome as you can really feeling your butt/legs getting toned. For the first half of the month I was doing very well but now I just find myself doing as many as I can muster in a day. Nevertheless I think this is an awesome exercise as it's something you can do when watching TV/Youtube videos ect. I also bought a yoga mat in the boxing day sales, so my other resolution has been to start yoga. Again I started well December/January, but towards the end of the month I was slacking. But I haven't got any exams in February so I'll be doing a sit-up version of the squat challenge and trying to do yoga on a daily basis, I'll update you on my progress.

The photo I found, it says September but that's no excuse to start in February!

Apart from that not much has been going on in my life I guess? But it's a new year and as the snow falls it lays a new white blank page. xxx
